EducationBA in Mathematics
Western Kentucky University, 2010
ExperienceI have been tutoring for 5 years. I work with students of all ages and ability levels! I've worked with traditional grade-school, high school, and college students. I've taught home-schooled students as a primary instructor and worked with students doing on-line coursework or in-class work. I've worked as an adjunct Math instructor at Harrison College. I briefly worked as a teacher at a high school in Hawaii, but I realized I prefer working with students in a one-on-one setting.
I firmly believe that everyone can be good at Math, and I want my students to believe that as well! Confidence is a big factor in Mathematics. I work with students on problem-solving and critical thinking. I focus on creating deeper understanding of the material (the WHY). I also use color to emphasize the patterns in Mathematics.
I am good at what I do! I've had multiple students ace tests after just three or four tutoring sessions!!
I got a 750 on the Math portion of my SAT.
I am trained in Singapore Mathematics and am happy to discuss using this curriculum with your child!
HobbiesI am not the typical Math tutor and I've been told that many times. But, it works in our advantage! I can relate to students well. I'm very laid back and students enjoy the session!
I was an Art minor in college. So, I can give alternate explanations of material and work well with different learning styles and interests.
